MSPAlliance and GMN Announce Merger
Managed Services associations combine to create one trade group
CHICO, CA. – September 7, 2004 – The MSPAlliance, a global trade group for the managed services and IT outsourcing industry, and the Global Managed Service Provider Network have announced that the two organizations will be merging. The resulting organization will retain the name MSPAlliance and all existing GMN members will receive full MSPAlliance membership benefits and privileges.
“The GMN has been doing a lot of important work for this industry,” said Charles Weaver, president of the MSPAlliance. “The combination of our two organizations will yield a group that is strong enough to meet the challenges the future will undoubtedly bring, as well as effectively promote the benefits of the managed services business model.’
“Our focus has always been to provide a network of valuable resources to three distinct groups; The Managed Service Provider, The end-user consumer and the analyst and media community, said Celia Weaver, Vice President of the MSPAlliance. “With the onslaught of regulatory compliance and security issues, along with proposed legislation that could potentially cripple the service provider industry, it became abundantly clear that this industry needed a strong clear voice and representation. Both the MSPAlliance and the GMN felt that the best way to accomplish this was to join forces and become an unparalleled advocate for the Managed Service Provider industry.”
Moving forward the new organization will consist of nearly 200 companies world wide with a focus on education, best practices, research, legislative lobbying, and promotion of the managed services business model.
“We are very pleased to be able to create a single, unified, representative organization that brings the strengths of both the GMN and the MSPA together to create an organization that is greater than the sum of its parts..” said Andrew Percy, Chairman of the GMN. “As managed services move into the center of the IT services industry the MSPA will now be able to leverage the experience of pioneers in managed services and the voice of some of the largest companies active in this space”
